THE INCIDENT

I own the alarm in our house and a salesman came out for service connection a year ago.
Because I own the alarm I insisted that I want 30 days notice and not a long term contract. The salesman agreed that this is the case and I signed.

Now I want to cancel my contract as I have found a better supplier that will give me far better service than ADT.
I called the accounts dept 1 week prior to the end of the month and a representative confirmed that I was on 30 days notice.
At the end of the month I sent the letter to request cancellation in 30 days.
I phoned the next day to make sure that the letter was received. The representative informed me that I am locked in the contract for 36 months!!!
I was shocked and in disbelief after 2 of their employees had confirmed otherwise!
I was told to check the fineprint!

I feel that their salesperson acted unethically and I feel cheated.
I have called ADT on more than one occasion complaining about poor service and billing - and according to them it was dealt with - they were NOT.

I am sick off their poor service and I want out - but now they won't let me!!!!
And we are supposed to trust these people?
